The Raptor is a cross dressing zombie.

My wife and I went to the Raleigh Zombie Walk this weekend.  We went with another couple, and you guessed it - we all went as zombie prom queens.  Believe it or not, this was my first time in a dress (well, that Im admitting to anyway) and it wasnt really all that its cracked up to be :)

Me and Mrs Raptor.

I saw an awesome vid for creating wounds.  It turned out awesome.  This pic doesnt give it credit - equal parts glycerine, gelatin, and water makes a hell of a nasty wound!

On an unrelated note, I lol'd on my way to work this morning just thinking about this clip.  Dunka Doo Balls!
Edit My dunka doo balls isn't showing up! Well, check this out Dunka Doo Balls!

Dreadball Terraton

Last year, I went crazy and waaaaaay over did my bidding on the kickstarter for Dreadball.  I have enough Dreadball figures to last a lifetime!

The 'season 3' figures came in a month or so ago, and I sat down yesterday and started painting some of the terratons.  Wasnt really sure about a color scheme, but this is what I came up with:

The white gets washed out in the light saturation I use when taking pictures, but it turned out pretty well, even though it doesnt show it.  White is always tough, especially when it is armor.

I think the red skin turned out really well.  Again, its kinda washed out, but I like it

I wasnt really sure about the green and the white (im still not) - but for now, its what Im going with (instead of green, I thought about blue, red, or black).

And, what a great morning to be a Gamecock fan!  It was the miracle in Columbia.....Missouri that is!  Connor Shaw saved the Cocks, and brought them back from 17-0 at the start of the 4th quarter to keep the hopes of winning the SEC East alive!

Success, I think!

I finished up cleaning these Elfquest figs last night.  My fingers are a little bit swollen, and I got a good scalpel slice under my thumbnail (ouch!) but I think these little bastards are as good as they are gonna get!

Woohoo!  Ill never do that again.

Making a little progress?

I mentioned in my last post that I was dealing with the beginnings of lead rot on some old figures that I just purchased.  I think Im starting to make some up some ground on them (look!  you can see shiny!)

They are now out of their baking soda bath, but I still have one more good scrub yet to give them....much to the chagrin of my poor fingers!  The tips of my fingers are getting totally shredded by the wire brush im using!  (Yeah, they are swollen and chewed up!)
The figs are just too small to hold and scrub without some collateral damage.  This fucker is the culprit!

Im going to give my fingers a rest tonight, and then back to finish the Elfquest figs off tomorrow night!

Ninjas! and combatting lead rot

Completed ninjas from Crossover Miniatures.  I painted these up as minions for The Blue Viper ( a super villain figure I completed a while back ).  There are a total of 12 of them.

Here with The Blue Viper (the ninjas im calling 'The Fang Of The Viper')

A few more ninjas

On an unrelated note, I picked up a box of Elfquest miniatures this week off of ebay.  (Ever read Elfquest?  It was one of my favorite comics as a kid - really great stuff, and now its available for free if you are interested Elfquest Online Comics).  Anyway, much to my horror, I cracked the box open, and all of the minis are starting to exhibit the signs of lead rot (which I had never heard of before)

Here is one of the figures.  You can see the 'rot' starting to begin - an outer crusty surface that is sitting right on top of the nice shiny figure.

Im giving them a baking soda bath, and im going to scrub them down with a wire brush.  Seems to be working ok with the first one I tried...still needs some more work though.

More pics as I progress with these.

Friends, Romans, Countrymen

These are 10mm Early Imperial Romans from Steve Barber minis.  They are pretty nice sculpts, but to be honest, I got kind of bored with them, and I think my painting suffered a bit.  Shields are hand painted.  Still, they look really cool 'en masse'

Prepare to be judged!

Judge Dredd!

The colors kinda got washed out in the light.  He is actually dark blue.  Cool figure.
