32mm Gladiator

Big gladiator from Arena Rex.  This poor guy was a disaster from start to finish.  The sculpt was disappointing with a realistic, but 'boring' pose.  However, the actual sculpting was great.  My paint job is terrible - one of the worst I have pulled off in a while.  Bad color choice, poor attempt at metals, skin blah.  Need to rebound.

However, used a new backdrop for the first time that Im really excited about.  Oh yeah - the leather bits turned out GREAT too - they really look like leather straps.

Everest turns into....

Several years back, I painted one of my first supes, Everest.  I have an extra model, and I want to redo him one day....but for now, I thought I would paint up his super power...

He turns into an ice guy!  A quick and easy little paint job

'Studies' and discouraging!!!

First up - a couple things I 'took away' from the classes at Reapercon.

First one - blending.  The colors were ugly, but they didnt matter.  Excited about the way this one went.  The white of the lights I use to take pics washed the color out a bit
Next up, I thought I had done decently with eyes.  The human eye sees this as being pretty good.  The digital eye thinks it sucks balls!

And, a study of my own I have completed this week amongst work at the house and family visits.

Obviously, I wasnt going for a completed mini here, but instead some work on blending skin, and some face work

More 'studies' to come this week hopefully!  Real life has died down a bit!

Little trip to Reapercon

I was in Dallas over the weekend, so I made a stop at Reapercon.  I didnt take many pics, but these are pics of some of the contest entries...a couple of which won awards
