At the beginning of the week, I mentioned that I was sending a buddy of mine, a huge ST and especially Wrath of Khan fan, a miniature in the mail.  He received it yesterday, so I decided its ok to post today.

ST figure WIP

Faces, skin, and most of the black are complete.

"McCoy, Leonard H"

I think this is a great sculpt - holding the tricorder, with the strap and bag (which you cant see very well in this pic) across his chest.  If there was ever a Bones figure, this is it.

"Sauce for the goose, Mr Saavik"

Im disappointed by the Spock figure.  There is something wrong with his left eye...he looks like one of those chocolate bunnies you get at easter where you can pop his eye ball out!  Oh well...not much I can do about that.  The ears that I scratch built look good, and overall, his face looks like Spock, IMHO.

"Spock, the women on your planet are logical.  Thats the only planet in the galaxy that can make that claim"

Kirk doesnt really look all that much like 'original Kirk'...looks more like Chris Pine.  But, thats alright - Ill roll with it.  His face has turned out well, and thats important, because he will be standing at the front of my little diorama.  Also, notice the "shoulder pads" in this picture.  The sculpts of these guys look more like a cross between the original series (pants and boots are DEFINITELY TOS) and TNG.  That ok - they arent 'Star Trek' figures, so I have to make do.

Finally, a couple of red shirts that will round out the away team

Next up

Well, after I finish the ECW cav Im working on (IF I EVER FINISH THEM), Ill be working on my newest purchase as well as the Han Solo from Knight Models at the same time:

These are 28mm Star Trek 'knockoffs' from Victory Miniatures.  They are a combination of old school ST unis from the original series, plus the shoulder panels from TNG (you can kinda make em out on that mini to the right in the last picture).  Im going to fill in the shoulder panels and make these look just like the original uniforms.  There is a model that looks like Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, plus two 'red shirts'.  (The top picture, right mini, is Spock;  The middle picture, left mini is Spock, middle is Kirk; The bottom picture, right mini is Bones)

Sorry Corey.  Dont kill me.  These are coming you way when Im done with them!

Star Trek Online - Stardate Feb.6.2010

Cool - Klingon weapon research base in the snow

The away team, led by T'Chal, my character

And a couple from the last night of open beta - The Borg Invasion. Three borg cubes...I got ripped 1 minute after this pic. Two phaser shots from the cubes, and I was dead.

Borg probes - these were a LITTLE more manageable than a cube, but not much...lots of ships hitting this one in this pic

Next up - 1/350 Polar Lights Enterprise Refit

My next big model is the 1/350 PL Enterprise.

Im going to add lights, and paint her up nice. First off, work on the arboretum. I completely stripped down the crappy looking terrain that came molded with the model, and Im reworking it all. Hard to tell what Im doing, but this is the floor, molded up. You can see the trough where the water will be (a river and a pond). You can also see a small hill near the edge where I want to simulate a waterfall.
