French Dragoons

French 2nd Dragoons of the Napoleonic era.  These are 10mm from Pendraken.

Danger! Zombies in Raleigh!!!

This weekend, Raleigh NC hosted a 'zombie walk'.  Lots of people showed up - Id say several hundred.  After a short shamble around the city (id say a mile or so?) - including interrupting a wedding reception at a swanky restaurant - the dead got to be involved in a street party!  A fun evening.

Melissa and I dressed up, and met 2 other couples we know there.

Run For Your Lives

So, yesterday, it started.  Ive finally gotten my ass in gear to start training for the zombie apocalypse.

Melissa and I are going to be running in the Zombie 5k 'Run For Your Lives' in December, and I figured it was time that I got my shit together.

Check it out here:
Run For Your Lives

They have been airing commercials about this race during the Walking Dead on AMC the past couple of weeks.  The concept is pretty cool....you are given three 'flags', just like in flag football.  The zombies (after you have run the race, the next year, you get to sign up as a zombie if you want) then try to catch you and get your flags.  Lose your flags, and you are 'dead'.  I want to survive.

Ive run probably 10-15 5k's over the last 5 or 6 years.  I know I can run the race as a 5K, but this has obstacles (my biggest fear is a straight wall, using a rope to get over), as well as the zombies.  Normally, 5k's (obviously) are about your recorded time...I have no interest now in getting a decent time.  I just want to complete all obstacles and survive without 'being turned'.

So, over the next two months, im going to be running, working out, and trying to eat better.  Not really sure why it was important to post this up, other than now Ive made it 'public' and now Im a little more accountable to myself.

BRING ON THE MUTHA FUCKIN' ZOMBIES!

The Blue Viper

This weekend, I continued my Super Hero kick with THE BLUE VIPER!  (Reaper miniatures figure, 28mm).  One of these days, I plan to give him some 'minions', either some ninjas or some of Crossover Minis soldier minions.

Paint The City Pink submission

Earlier in the month, I mentioned the great contest that hendybadger is running here.  I dont particularly care if I win or finish dead last...I just hope my figure can generate a few bucks to help out a great cause!

This is my submission:

A good ole fashioned ass whoopin'

USC DESTROYED the Bulldogs this weekend 35-7, moving the Cocks up to #3 in the polls.  Many considered the game 'the most important game in the history of Williams Brice Stadium', and a record crowd of over 85,000 attended.  Next up, LSU AT Death Valley and they Gaytors AT The Swamp.  Two more big games, and wins mean that the SKY IS THE LIMIT!

The defense was ALL OVER the Dawgs all night
Check out those BAD ASS GLOVES!!!  "In the clutches of a Gamecock!"

Police Drones

These are 'drones' from Effigy Miniatures.  I painted them as sort of 'near future' Police Drones.

Kinda cool story about these.  I originally got in on the Kickstarter from Tom Mason (founder of Effigy Miniatures) maybe a year or so ago.  When I went and met Kevin Dallimore, I took him this Effigy figure that he painted.

I then dropped Tom a line, and sent him a picture of this mini...I thought it turned out really nicely, and I thought he would at least want to see it.  He was very appreciative and said 'when I get my next Kickstarter project going, Ill send you a sample'.  Cool, but honestly, I didnt think much more about it.

Well, lo and behold, several weeks back, I get an email from Tom asking for my address.  He then sent me these cool drones!  Very nice looking pieces, and each one come with a small sprue of different arms and attachments.

If you get a chance, check out Tom's newest Kickstarter here, and look at what he has to offer.  Great figures with lots of character if you are into the sci fi genre.

Paint The City Pink

I recently came across this post over on Hendybadger's blog.  It is a fundraiser/competition for Cancer Research UK and the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Members of the fundraiser will paint a super hero in PINK, preferably from Pulp City (but Im sure ANY super hero will do).  I just went out and purchased this figure for entry into the competition and auction.

Ive known several people through my life who have won and lost against Breast Cancer, and other cancers for that matter, and its a subject that is close to my heart.

If you are in the mood, pick up a Pulp City mini, paint it up pink, and send it in!  You could win a prize, and you will be helping people out real heroes....the heroes who are fighting Breast Cancer!
