SOA Chinook

I almost forgot - finished the spec ops Chinook this weekend too.  1/72 scale.  got some silvering around the decals that i cant kill (I forgot to 'Future' it first) and the decal setting solution is leaving stains on the paint.  This has been an all around disaster of a model (99% of which has been my fault), and Im glad its done.

Italeri Special Forces Chinook

This is a 1/72 model of a Chinook from Italeri.  It has been the hardest model I have ever put together, by far.  Im not a huge fan of the kit itself....it appears to me that Italeri just took their original Chinook kit, and retooled it by adding some parts.  There were several pieces that had to be totally cut off of the main frame (which was total crap!), parts that didnt fit well, as well as parts that didnt fit AT ALL (!)

However, I love the Chinook as a chopper - its ugly and chunky, but has gotten the job done for 50 years now.  This one represents a US spec forces bird, and will represent the downed chopper on a Takur Ghar board if I ever get around to it.

Next up is masking off the windows and glass (which is gonna be tough), and then a paint job.  Maybe it will be finished up by the weekend

Pilots turned out well too, although you cant see them all that great.  From Liberation minis...

And now, my baby - im working on the ISD Avenger...the only star destroyer to successfully chase the Millenium Falcon into the asteroid belt in the ESB. Im lighting it, and its my first time doing something like that with a model.

The first couple pictures are some of the wiring inside the bottom half of the hull

Two of the main engines lit. Hell yeah!

A tiny Millenium Falcon. This will go on the back of the main bridge section of the SD

Gone, Gone, Gone

I bought an A10 Thunderbolt at lunch today. Im gonna paint it in a desert camo scheme, which will be a series of tan, light brown, and dark brown. One of the things that I think will really make it stand out will be the insignia/detailing at the front. Id love to do something like this:
warthog
or this:
mouth
If Im really brave, and instead of the 'mouth', maybe the mascot:
mascotte
Finally, I like these colors for the camo scheme. (I dont like SOMETHING about this picture, but I cant place my finger on it)
