Adepticon Miscellaneous Stuff

Here are some randoms that dont really fit anywhere.  If you want to check out the rest of my pictures, check out here:
Adepticon

First of all, this is all the stuff I came home with.  Lots of it was given in the 'swag bag', but Im afraid most of it was purchased:

Some figures:

Flames of War tournament

They had a large Flames of War tourney going on.  Im completely hooked on these figures now.  These are all random soldiers and tanks that were on the table in competition.  Keep in mind these are all 15mm...

Now on to the good stuff

My first real post is about Bennett Blalock-Doane's figures.  This guy has won a ton of Golden Demon awards - the one that Games Workshop sponsors - and taught the first class I took this weekend on skin and flesh.  You dont really realize how 'not good' you are, until you see some of this guy's work.  The pics here are a Gaulic warbad that he GAMES WITH!!!! These arent even display figs...and the pictures dont even do them credit.

C'mon.  Are you SERIOUS????

Nerds.....nerds....nerds...nerds

My first post about Adepticon this past weekend is dedicated to the nerds.  Man, there is a smell that nerds have that you just cant duplicate (like the smell of burning flesh).  Its not a fart smell, its not BO, its not 'dirty'...its just nerd.  Anyway, here are a few funny pictures...

THIS IS SPARTA! Part 2.

I just completed a 'unit' of 15mm Xyston Spartans.  There are 16 foot soldiers, 1 mounted general, and 2 musicians (skin flute players).  They turned out aiiight - I definitely like the bigger models better (25/28mm is definitely more my style), but you can afford a lot more 15mm!

Destroy the Iconian Gateway!

Cmdrs. Threxis, T'Chal, and the crews of the Kirkwood and Apache were faced with an Iconian Gateway that the Romulans had discovered.  The crew faced down the Romulans and destroyed the gateway.

The Undiscovered Country

Just got back from a vacation to Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado with my wife.  While we were there, we took some snowboarding lessons and also took an unguided snowmobile trip.  Here are a few pics -

Snowmobiling pics - these are about 7 miles out into the middle of nowhere...truly, the undiscovered country

Finally, when we got done, we had to get to Colorado Springs, which is south of Denver.  Instead of backtracking to Denver on the interstate, we thought we would be adventurous and go over the mountains straight to the city.  However, what we didnt know was that there was a major snowstorm on the mountain - we were driving in our little rented Kia Optima in a 4inch snow/hour storm.  Some of the turns were scary - we could probably only see 25 yards ahead of us...close to a 'white out' situation.  Here are a couple pics from our car once we got OUT of the majority of the storm.

Well, that was quick.

USC's chances for the "prestigious" NIT just went down the crapper.  USC, up by 18 at one point in the second half, managed to lose.  Thanks for the memories, DD!
