December 2010, and 2010 Yearly Totals!

Holy crap - I just read Scott MacPhee's blog (from MacPhee's Miniature Men blog) and looked at his totals for 2010 - pretty intimidating!  Something like 850 28mm infantry and 650 15mm infantry alone.  I dont even have 10 percent of that!  In fairness, I didnt paint a lot in the way of 'uniform' soldiers - most were different in one way or the other, and I bounce around from type to type.

Oh well - I did complete a lot for me, and I feel like I get better every time I paint a new figure.  I hope to up my totals in 2011.

Completed, for December, 2010:
28mm infantry completed: 3
1 Dark Elf Assassin (Reaper)
1 Barbarian (Reaper)
1 Paladin (Reaper)

15mm infantry completed: 5
3 Zombie Hunters (Rebel Miniatures)
2 Special Agents (Rebel Miniatures)

My wife picked up several Western outlaws for me for Christmas, plus several that I bought for myself in November from Foundry.  Once I finish up the samurai, they are next.

November 2010 Totals

I finished 4 different projects in November.  However, I still didnt TOUCH the Peter Pig marines!  WTF????  I dont know what it is...they are great little figures.  I think that A) Im finding Im not a huge fan of 15mm - I like the detail and layering I can do with a 28mm and B) there appears to be SO MANY FIGURES on my paint table, that I get overwhelmed, and just say 'fuck it'

In order to combat my project crawl, Ive had to clean up my desk, and get back to only a few things so it doesnt seem like such a dauntless task.  Once my desk was clean, I felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.  That certainly isnt the way I want to deal with this hobby.

Im taking stuff off of my 'In Progress' list, and I am going to try to make sure that this only reflects things that I am truly working on right now.

Completed, for November, 2010:
28mm cavalry completed: 2
2 Arabs on camels (Brigade Games Arab Revolt Range)
15mm infantry completed: 9
9 Reapers (GZG Miniatures)
1/285 armor completed: 5
5 M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles (GHQ)
Mini Sci Fi Vessel: 1
1 Ravager Raider (GZG Miniatures)

In progress, October/November, 2010:
15mm infantry in progress: 15 (Reduced this number here from over 100 last month)
9 Modern US Marines (Peter Pig)
3 Zombie Hunters (Rebel Miniatures)
3 Special Agents (Rebel Miniatures)
28mm infantry in progress: 5
1 Dark Elf Assassin (Reaper)
1 Wizard/Mage (Reaper)
1 Paladin (Reaper)
1 Elf Hunter/Ranger (Reaper)
1 Elven Cat (Reaper)
Mini Sci Fi Vessel: 1
1 NAC Suffolk Class escort (GZG Miniatures)

Im going to do my DAMNDEST to get these miniatures off of my table before I pick more up.  However, I purchased several packs of 15mm zombies from Reaper, got some Foundry cowboys and a SWAT team on reduced price, and I also picked up a box of Wargames Factory Prussian Landwehr on sale, all tugging at me....

Purchased, November 2010
Did well on the purchasing front until Black Friday came along.  As I mentioned, I bought a box of plastic Landwehr from Brookhurst Hobbies on sale for $22.  I spent over 50 at Rebel Miniatures on zombies, contractors, and zombie hunters.  Also, I got some reduced price Foundry minis too on Black Friday - I dont remember, but I think they were $36 total.  Anyway, that puts me over the $1000 mark for the year.  Im waiting on my reward.

October 2010 Totals

Got a couple different projects done in October - some 28mm Native Americans and some GZG marines.  Im slow, but I dont really care I guess...

Completed, for October, 2010:
28mm infantry completed: 12
12 Native American Woodland Indians (Perry and Conquest Miniatures)
15mm infantry completed: 32
32 NAC Marines (GZG Miniatures)

In progress, September/October, 2010:
1/350 scale space ships in progress: 1

15mm infantry in progress: 109 (up from 40 last month!)

5 LAV-25 IFVs (GHQ)
3 HMMWVs (GHQ)

Last month I said that I would like to finish the marines from Peter Pig, start on the GZG miniatures, and start lighting up an Enterprise model.  Hmmm - I guess my priorities got a little turned around (as usual).  Id love to get at least the US marines done this month, as I think the Peter Pig miniatures are really great looking.  Im also nearing completion on the 9 sci fi renegades Im working on, so maybe those will be done this week???  However, Call of Duty comes out next week and then Thanksgiving here in the US, and those might SERIOUSLY put a hurtin' on my painting time.

Purchased, October 2010
One purchase from Rebel Miniatures this month - 3 packs of 15mm Insurgents at $10.95 each.  Also spent $29.94 at Khurasan Miniatures on some 15mm Alien figures.  Inching ever so close to the $1000 level this year.  Do I get a reward then????

After a pretty successful August as far as getting stuff done, September has been exactly the opposite.  I finished up some Revolutionary War minis, and that was it.  I have added several things to the Work In Progress category...

5 LAV-25 IFVs (GHQ)

Coming up in October, Im going to be doing a lot of 15mm soldiers - Id like to finish up the Modern Marines from Peter Pig, and also start on a stack of 15mm sci fi soldiers I bought from GZG Miniatures.  It will be my first foray into sci fi figures since I gave up on Games Workshop.  Im itching to work on the Enterprise too, but thats gonna be a huge undertaking.

July 2010 Totals

Well, just as I suspected...Historicon about broke me.  I brought $500 in cash, and by the end of the weekend, I was whipping out the credit card.  Ugh.

I farted around a good bit this month with Check Your 6! and some other things.  Not only did Historicon break the bank, but it kinda threw my focus off (notice the 'in progress' section!).  I dont know what the hell Im really working on now!  Because of that, I think Im gonna drop the 'Purchased' section - I might just throw in the 'cost' of stuff I buy, just to keep up with it.

Historicon 2010, and a lot of money spent

I took a few pics from my phone, but then realized that my service was so crappy from King of Prussia, that it would take days to upload these.  So, anyway, here are 4, got some more coming when I upload the pics from my camera.

Zombies!  This was probably my favorite game that I saw.  It was a massive horde of zombies (down at the bottom of the pic) - there must have been 1000 - vs a small group of soldiers and police middle to top (you can see a couple Abrams and Bradleys scattered in there if you look closely).  By the time this was over, the zombies had pushed the people right off the board.

Huge castle siege

One corner of the nerd convention.  This is 1/4 of the main game hall.  This room was huge.  On top of that, there was a bottom floor that was half this size, and another hotel had more games...I never made it over there.

Some random Civil War game...corn fields near the top, some cool walls to the left and right.

Finally, for my 2010 totals, I took out $500 to spend on little men. I have very little left.  Lets just call it $500 spent.  But, that should keep me busy for a while.

Some of the things I bought
A platoon of 15mm modern US Marines
A large group of Insurgents
WW1 A-Rabs on camels
28mm modern US Marines
28mm Am. Indians
About 50 (no joke) 1/600 airplanes
About 50 1/285 pieces of armor

...and thats probably just the tip of the iceberg.

100th post is June Totals!

Wow - 100 posts.  Thats quite a bit for me, especially when I never thought this was something I would keep up with.  Ive gotten to like blogging, and I like putting the pictures up when Im done...serves as a nice journal of my work.

Anyway, I got quite a bit done in June - and that was including a vacation of 5 or 6 days where I wasnt home!  I cant remember that I bought anything this month - dont think I did.  I did get some stuff for my birthday, but that doesnt count.
