Ok, so I originally posted these guys up a couple days ago. I pointed people to the site from a couple different forums I visit. Overall, I got some good comments about my painting...but I also got some 'wow, great painting, but the bases look like steaming turds' or something like that :)
Anyway, before I posted them, I didnt think I really liked the bases either, but I figured I was just being hard of myself. Last night, I rebased them all, and I am much more happy with the result:

My very own ludus
28mm Gladiators from Crusader. The first of my purchases complete from Cold Wars. The shields are hand painted, and I thought they turned out pretty well.

Cold Wars 2011
Went to Cold Wars in Lancaster PA this weekend. It was a short trip for me - I left my home on Friday morning, arrived in PA on Friday afternoon, spent a couple hours in the vendor hall, and came on early Saturday morning.
I was too excited to take pictures! I brought my camera, but left it in my hotel room. I took some pics with my phone, but like a kid on Christmas morning, forgot all about it most of the time I was there. But, anyway, here are a couple pics:
Here is a picture of the vendor hall. I was telling my wife that I need to alter my schedule with conventions a bit. I need to make sure I go and spend at least a couple hours there the first day, but then I need to make sure I have a night to 'sleep on it' and come back the next day. The first few minutes are TOTALLY overwhelming to me.
I played in my first zombie game (ATZ) on Friday night. I had been wanting to see how it played, and I got my opportunity.
Oh noes! A fire at the baby milk factory! Firefigthers are reporting aggressive and violent behavior from the survivors escaping the factory!
Officers Fackler and Kirkland, among other members of the police force, are called in.

Whats going on???? Survivors??? More like zombies!!! One of the other officers are swarmed early on by the raging mob. Oh the horror! (actually, this worked out well - the feasting zombies cleared the way for Officers Fackler and Kirkland to complete their objective - entering the factory, and turning off something HAH! I dont really know I was turning off - I just know that it helped in causing zombies to not come out of a spawn location!!!)
The surviving first responders (the army and a biohazard team showed up looking to exterminate everything in the area - no pics of that!) make their way to the boat dock and attempt to escape. Officer Kirkland holds off the dock, trying to cover the remaining survivors. In the next turn, Kirkland, as well as three other officers are killed and eaten. REST IN PEACE, OFFICER!
Six officers out of a beginning 12 (6 players, each controlling two police officers) managed to escape the baby factory fiasco, including Officer Fackler. However, two of those 6 had taken infecting wounds from the zombies and started the zombie apocalypse!!!!!
Overall, it was a good time. I love the zombie generation system of the game, as well as the objectives that we needed to accomplish. After seeing how the zombies swarm to a downed player, I can see some serious opportunities to wreak havoc to save your own ass.
And for 'budget reporting' purposes, I spent about $450 in the vendor hall....

Turtle Tank Completed
I finished up the turtle tank last night. Turned out great. Im really excited that it didnt really take me long to do - not sure of the actual hours, but it flew by. Great little model - I think it is my wife's favorite so far.
Now, I turn my attention to Cold Wars this weekend!

Some more Star Trek Online screenshots
Still been playing Star Trek Online. I am still finding the missions to be repetitive, however, the side items such as customizing your bridge crew, your ship, and your gear is better than any other MMO to date, in my opinion.
They have also implemented weekly 'episodes' that play out just like a TNG television episode. They are really a lot of fun.
Anyway, a few screen shots from the last week or so:
From the mission 'The Tribble With Klingons' where you had to beam down to a planet where a Federation Science Officer was trying to create a Tribble homeworld. Some Klingons had caught wind of this, and they were trying to stop the research. It was pretty funny - you come up on Klingons going ape trying to kill as many tribbles as they could. These are screen caps from inside the science lab...looks like things are starting to get out of hand.
A planet where you can see 'the dark side' (the picture looks dark on my crap monitor here at work - hopefully looks ok)
The final Romulan/Reman episode
Admiral Threxis and Captain T'Chal
If you are familiar with Star Trek:Nemesis, the final confrontation was vs a ship that looked like the 'Scimitar' - couple pics of my ship, the USS Longbow, firing on the Scimitar
Just about to level up a rank, and get a new cruiser.

February 2011 Totals
Looking back on my post of January totals, I listed several 'goals' of miniatures I wanted to work on/complete, and for the first time in a long time (maybe ever!) I finished everything that I set out to do, and a little more!
I completed a unit of 15mm ACW infantry, a Napoleonic sailing vessel, a pirate, and a small SWAT team (which wasnt on 'my list'). My painting slowed down considerably while I got back into Star Trek Online, which is a shame really because I was really starting to get on a roll - most of what I completed was done by Feb 15th or so.
I made one small purchase - some modern armor from IrishSerb.
Completed, for February, 2011:28mm infantry completed: 6
1 Pirate (Black Scorpion)
5 SWAT members (Foundry)
1/1200 Napoleonic naval vessel completed: 1
1 Spanish 64 Gun Ship (Langton Miniatures)
15mm infantry completed: 24
24 Confederate, with a few Union sprinkled in (Peter Pig)
In progress, February/March, 2011:
Turtle Tank in progress: 1
Turtle Tank from Eureka Miniatures
Mini Sci Fi Vessel in progress: 1
1 NAC Suffolk Class escort (GZG Miniatures)
1/2400 Modern Ships: 4
1 Arleigh Burke Class ship (GHQ Miniatures)
3 Los Angeles Class submarines (GHQ Miniatures)
15mm Modern Armor: 3
2 M2 Bradley tanks (IrishSerb)
1 HMMWV (IrishSerb)
I have a several models sitting on my desk, that im considering 'in progress', although Im not really working on them yet. Im still waiting for the weather to change a bit so I can use an airbrush on them. I also have an order in with QRF for one more Bradley, one more HMMWV, and an Abrams tank. I plan on adding some stowage to all of them, and painting those, plus IrishSerb's stuff all at one time.
My current project, and one that truly is 'in progress', is the Turtle Tank from Eureka miniatures. Im nearly done with the turtle and howdah, and only have 9 small turtles to paint. I dont think they will take long if I can get the time to work on them.
I go to Cold Wars in March - basically, its gonna be my Christmas in March! Im trying not to spend much money between now and then, or get into anything in particular (hence the Turtle Tank) before I go. Ive been looking at the vendors who are going to be there, and Im looking at some Successors, some Carthaginians, or maybe even some Romans. I havent done much in the 'Ancient' realm, but Im itching too.
Yearly Completed Totals:
25-28mm infantry completed: 11
25-28mm cavalry completed: 3
15mm infantry completed: 33
1/1200 naval vessel completed: 1
Purchases in January, 2011:
IrishSerb - $21.07
Total Purchases, 2011
$226.33
