I gotta figure out a better way to keep up with my totals.

August slowed down for me again.  I got back into SWTOR at the beginning of the month and started playing Guild Wars 2 near the end of the month.  That kinda stuff pretty much crushes my free painting time.

I did finally manage to complete the damn ogres, painted a couple more super heroes, and got on with some 10mm horsies.

Believe it or not, I didnt buy anything new this month.  My pile of little men is massive enough as it is - ill never get to it all.

July 2012 - much better

After June being a pretty slow painting month, I got back to my 'regular' schedule.  I bought a new video game or two, the Olympics the past week, and a few weekends out of town slowed me again, but I still turned out a decent number.

Im still bogged down with the Ogre Bloodbowlers.  They are great figures, but I keep finding other stuff to do.  I did a little work on them this month, but still not complete.  However, I got on a superhero 'kick', and I have turned out a few of those.

Didnt buy much this month - sent in a tiny order to Crossover Miniatures to get a few more supes, but thats about it.

June 2012 - A weak month for painting

After a great month of production in May, June ground to a halt.  I got bogged down with Ogre Bloodbowlers (which are really cool figures - they are just draining me!).  Also, 'lost' a couple weekends to vacation and what not - weekends are typically my most busy painting time.  Oh well - what can you do?

I bought a few things this month - one of the guys in the UK on The Guild website was selling off a bunch of plastic models on the cheap, so I got in on a bunch of modern tanks and few choppers.  I also purchased and received a preorder of 10mm Blaze Away ACW figures (that are really cool btw).

Im still plugging away on my Bloodbowl team - still 4 more ogres to go, and then I switch gears to the rest of the team - snotlings, goblins, etc.  Considering how long the 3 ogres I finished this month took, im thinking it will still be another month before I get these guys done.

Finally, Im DYING to start working on some 10mm Carthaginians I have from Pendraken.  I have several elephants and some soldiers - they will definitely get started this month.

Damn.  I just cant help myself.  I was actually talking to my wife about this - I buy stuff ALL THE TIME because I see a figure I love, and Im afraid the company will either go under, the mold will go bad, or just worried Ill never get the chance to purchase it again.

Oh well - this month I finished up buying my Ogre team - I bought 4 more ogres, the coaching staff, and the snotlings that round out the team from Heresy, Impact Miniatures, and Games Workshop - that came out to around 80 dollars.  Also, purchased the ACW Command Unit from Pendraken (as well as some other stuff) for another 20 bucks.  Cha ching!  Add $100 to the spent column!

Biker and April 2012 Totals

First up - my first completed purchase from Salute!  A biker from Copplestone Castings.  I really love Copplestone's stuff - always very alive.  I got a few packs - bikers and some scavengers - but I forgot that if I was to paint bikers, I needed to paint tats right???  Ugh - I wasnt brave enough to try to pull it off on this figure.

April was another relatively slim month for painting.  I was in the UK for 10 days, prep for the UK was at least a couple days, working late after the return is another 4 or 5 days, and a visit from the mum was a couple days.  Hopefully, I can turn my painting around in May.

March 2012 Totals and Mass Effect 3

March was a pretty slim month for painting.  I got involved in Mass Effect 3 (which I just finished - more on that in a sec), and my last save was about 25 hours (all in the month of March).  Normally, that time would be closer to 10-12 hours for a video game, so that really took a chunk.  I finished off a zombie, a few Old West characters, and several 6mm tanks.

If you have been a follower of the Mass Effect series, you must get Mass Effect 3 and run it through.  It is a great 'space opera' with a great story, great gameplay, and really nice looking cutscenes.  Throw in Commander Sheppard getting a little bouncy bouncy from some fluzie reporter and Yvonne Strahovski's cyber character, who can go wrong???

Maybe you have read about the controversy of the ending?  I wont spoil it on my blog, and there is a decent article here about it.  Honestly, the last 10 minutes suck some pretty big donkey.  It does kinda stink that someone has put 75ish hours into the game series only to have a the ending be pretty much worthless.  No closure, no happy ending - hell, there really isnt an unhappy ending!  Like I said, I wont ruin it just in case you are going to play/not finished yet, but Id be interested to know what you think.  And again, the 24 hours and 50 minutes you will play getting to the end are more than worth it - just turn your machine off before you have to make the final decisions!!!

Ive been dinking around with the ACW figures the last two weeks.  Im nearly finished with them - I need to get my ass in gear and finish them off.  They have been sitting on my table too long.  The main reason I wanted to paint up the Old Glory and Blue Moon was to get a decent sense of their figures as compared to Peter Pig.  I know lots and lots of people LOVE OG and the Blue Moon stuff, and totally hate the Piggy, but without being totally completed yet, I have to say that the Pig is definitely my 15mm figure of choice.

Im also working on (well, primed and have half a base coat down) some 1/285 US stuff for Desert Storm.  I really love the tiny tanks!

Ive got it goin' on like Donkey Kong to start off the year.  January and February were both really productive.  Maybe its the extra day in February?

I was all over the place this month - zombies, Confederates, Germans, Numidians - oh my.  My ACD has really been kicking.  Also, my spending moratorium is now over - I dropped some cash on some 15mm ACW figures as well as aforementioned ancients, trying to decide what ranges I want to go with.  Its ok though!  It was all for research!  Still trying desperately to save for Salute - my shopping list is pretty damn long already!
