7 Eureka 28mm Recon Marines

These turned out pretty well - pictures dont do the camo faces justice, but, oh well.  Faces are really starting to become my strong point.  Notice the pool of water in the middle of the small diorama.

Battlestar Galactica

Resin version of the Old Lady.  The model was kinda crappy actually, but still, cool at this size.  The words 'Galactica' as well as the symbol of Cobol were hand painted.

Id buy other models in this series like Pegasus, colony ships, and other fictional Battlestars, etc.

A10 Warthog from GHQ 1/285 scale

A 1/285 scale fighter from GHQ.  These are pretty small planes - im mostly excited about the hand painted 'teeth' I put on there

1/285 marines and hummers

3/4 of a platoon of marines ready to go.  24 infantry and 2 hummers.  Next up are the support weapons for this group - SAWs, anti tank weapons, snipers.

I still cant get the damn varnish right.  These are TOO SHINY!!!!  I coated with future floor wax, let dry for over 24 hours, and then put matt varnish on top of that.

Work in Progress - 8/26/2010

A little more WIP.  The beginnings of the base for some of the recon marines, and also the sniper.  The base has a tiny pool of water, and what are going to be cattails.  Im also going to try to put a ton of foliage on it too so they blend in a bit.  I was doing this while I was watching a documentary of the SOF guys in Operation Just Cause - the invasion of Panama.
Also, Battlestar Galactica.  When I went to bed last night, I thought I was about finished, with the exception of some of the red on the top.  When I got up this morning, the light color on the top looks too blue to me...I may have to redo that part - it should be slightly less grey then the rest of the ship - not grey with blue in it.

Work in Progress - 8/25/2010

Several things on the burner right now
28mm Recon Marines
(Sorry about the poor image quality - taken with my cell in bad light.  They still look good though.)
1/285th US Marines and Humvees - look at the bottle caps for size comparision.  I finished them up last night - should get a few pictures of them off the sprue tonight.

Gone shootin'

Melissa and I went pistol shooting this weekend.  Remember, NEVER put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot!

Blackhawk Not Down!

Finished the 1/285 Blackhawk last night.  The pictures arent great because I wanted out of the hot upstairs as fast as possible.

What if????

I completed 5 GHQ 1/285 Abrams M1A2 tanks over the weekend.  They have been painted in European camouflage.  What if the Russians get a little too big for their britches????  Just like always, we will be there...

All of these have had some kind of hand done modification.  Im especially proud of the tiny sandbags.

P47 Thunderbolts and BF109Gs REALLY complete

Finally got the decals placed on these little buggers.  I was hoping to get real squad markings on the American planes, but there just wasnt enough room.

There are a total of 12 1/600 Tumbling Dice planes.

July 2010 Totals

Well, just as I suspected...Historicon about broke me.  I brought $500 in cash, and by the end of the weekend, I was whipping out the credit card.  Ugh.

I farted around a good bit this month with Check Your 6! and some other things.  Not only did Historicon break the bank, but it kinda threw my focus off (notice the 'in progress' section!).  I dont know what the hell Im really working on now!  Because of that, I think Im gonna drop the 'Purchased' section - I might just throw in the 'cost' of stuff I buy, just to keep up with it.
