Cool free incentive fig from KaosBall kickstarter
I posted a couple weeks back that I was pledging on the KaosBall kickstarter link. Today, they passed a milestone, and the following figure is going to be given away to all pledgers! Cool!
More QRF armor
Needless to say, I got in on QRF's 20% off sale a few weeks back....
BTR 80
BMP 3
The metal stuff from QRF seems to be pretty good. But, I also got some more choppers, and I have to say I am not looking forward to them at all. The resin bits are all pockmarked, and there are even places where someone from QRF has attempted to fill holes with putty (cheap crappy putty at that!) They are going to require a helluva lot of work, when really all I want to do is paint em!

Blackhawks Not Down
Ive got a bunch of different little man projects going on at the moment. Im still working on the paratroopers that I posted up earlier in the week; Ive got a stack of choppers coming in from QRF; Ive got some armor from Khurasan; also, some Sci Fi Hummer type vehicles from Rebel Minis.
Im planning on building it all, and then priming it all at once. A lot of the colors should be the same too, so that may save some trouble with the airbrush.
But, for now...
Two Blackhawks from QRF wip.

The Last Of Us
Currently competing for my painting time, ive been playing 'The Last Of Us' for the PS3. Its a really good game which is getting max scores from several video game sites. Not sure I see it as a 'max score' game, but it definitely changes the zombie/apocalypse game genre, and has been enjoyable so far for sure.
The Last Of Us is set 20 or so years after an apocalyptic event. You are never really told exactly what happened, other than many people started to become infected and turn into zombies (frankly, I dont guess it really matters what the actual event was). There are small groups of survivors around, and this is where the main character, Joel and his Ellen Page lookalike Ellie come into play. Ellie has become infected, but the disease has been really slow to spread in her. Joel is tasked with taking her 'somewhere' (I dont know yet) because she is seen as a possible solution to the infection.
Resources are limited (read: bullets), and as you move through the maps, you find different items you can use to craft new items. Alcohol, bandages, etc can be used to create health packs, shivs, and molotov cocktails. TLOU uses a 'listen' function where you can hear where enemies are, and you are encouraged to sneak through maps, and stealthily kill enemies where necessary.
According to my saves, I think Im about 30-35% complete.
Early on, Joel's daughter dies. Pretty sure Ellie represents the daughter figure
I think in this case, Joel is toast. 'Zombies' (or infected) are pretty tough to bring down on their own, but a pack of them like this is bad news. In the back is a 'clicker' - they move using echolocation, and once alerted, you are pretty much dead.
Everything is overgrown, and really looks like something terrible happened where most humans no longer exist. Not sure, but this is probably actual gameplay footage.
So far, Id give it 8 Raptor's Claws out of 10! (although, supposedly, its an 'emotional' story - maybe Ill become attached to Ellen Page and not want her to die???)

Currahee!
Been away from painting for the last week, but this weekend, I was able to put some time into some 20mm US Paratroopers. These were a test batch - I still have 20 or more left to paint - but I think Ill go with these colors.

Two Kickstarters Im supporting
I love Empress Miniatures...imo, they make the best 28mm Moderns on the market. Their other stuff is pretty amazing too. They now have a Kickstarter going for a 'Pacific Rim What If' between US Marines and the Chinese PLA. Stretch goals include naval boarding teams, and possibly Australians and Kiwis. When I heard about this one a few months ago, I started saving my money.

Next up, im a sucker for Blood Bowl and all of its unassociated games that have come after (see my Dreadball pledge!!!) Kaosball is another in the line of successors to BB. This one is a little more, I dont know, Anime-ish than I typically like, but I think the sculpts look good, and it looks like it could be a fun little game (IE - not a two - three hour Blood Bowl slugfest that you need a week to recover from!)

Get in on them before its too late!

15mm Not Stormtroopers
Thought I would post a few pictures of these - Im not sure if I can speak of where they came from! The whole operation was very hush hush, and now, they dont even appear to be available on the website where I purchased them any more! I bought several packs of these as soon as I found out - I had a feeling they wouldnt last long...
Im sure if "Lord Vader" found out about this leakage, he would be on the seller's site like stink on shit!

D-Day
69 years ago today, soldiers, sailors and airmen of the free world began
their mission to reclaim France, and topple Nazi Germany. It is a
great day of remembrance, not only for the soldiers that died this day,
but also for all of the men and women who fought to save the world from
tyranny.
"Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon a great crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened, he will fight savagely.
But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man to man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to victory!
I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory!
Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessings of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."

Star Trek Online pics
Well, ADD has taken over again, and steered me back to Star Trek Online. They recently had a new release that allows you to play the Klingons and Romulans in a PvE role (previously, you could play the Klingons, but it was really fro PvP only for the most part).
Anyway, a few screenshots of my 'adventures' the past few weeks
