This weekend in the US (and particularly Monday) is when we all remember the men and women who have died serving our country. I have lots of relatives including my father and grandfathers who served in Vietnam and WW2 respectively, as well as many people still living who have been in our armed forces at one time or another.
I saw a good quote the other day - dont know where it came from, so I cant give a correct reference, but Im sure the message is all that matters: A soldier is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to their country for an amount up to and including their life.
Thank you to all of the Americans, and also all of the other soldiers from other countries around the world who gave their lives protecting freedom and our way of life.

Thank you for this and the outstanding quote. Never heard it put quite that way, but I can't deny its meaning. Excellent post.
ReplyDeleteVery good description. It is a blank check indeed. One in which the soldier and their family feel the weight of the debt, constantly.
