Played the first Takur Ghar scenario with Force on Force yesterday. The US forces were all wiped out by the end of turn 3! The HMG on the ridge killed every last soldier with great rolls, as well as the US soliders not being able to supress it in time. They never even made it to cover.
The Taliban forces
The US Forces - hardly seems fair does it???
The downed soldier - Petty Officer First Class Neil C Roberts. By the 'bonzai' tree
The table with forces arrayed! The Taliban are visible to the left and right if you look closely
The final result
Well, at first glance, this was partly my fault for sure. The first thing I did was split the squad on 6 into 3 groups of 2. This is BAD in Force on Force. I think the best thing to do would have been to get to cover, and THEN split if necessary. I thought I could use three separate groups for supression/cover, but it didnt work that way.
I need to try this scenario out again. Honestly, even if I had kept the US forces together, I dont know how they win this scenario. Terry Taliban starts the game off hidden, can ambush, and are swarming the downed soldier.
Well I don't know the rules of FoF, BUT your board and figure work are all outstanding. A "Labor of Love" if you will? Nice job man - can't wait to see more of these!
